Welcome 2020

Hello everyone! Happy New Year to everybody and hope everyone has had wonderful holidays. And I hope y’all s first full week back to school and work is going good. I haven’t been on here since before Halloween, things just got a little stressful at times. We had a great finish to October, Halloween was a blast for everyone, but it was cold. November was pretty exciting. Of course we had a couple of Thanksgivings, none actually ON Thanksgiving. We also had a Friendsgiving that we try to attend every year.

But I think the most important day we had in November was when we got to go watch an OU football game at Barry Switzers house. Now for those who don’t know, Barry is one of the most legendary football coaches from OU and he also coached Dallas Cowboys for a while ( that achievement isn’t very high on the list for me). But I had won a giveaway on Facebook from a local casino for 2 tickets and transportation to Barry’s house and back. Also a free one night stay in a room at the hotel, and snacks, plus food and open bar at Barry’s. Plus we received signed footballs and he was pretty much willing to sign anything else. It was pretty awesome. I also had home sign my limited edition nation champion letterman’s coat.

Stressful December

And like most people we headed into December with high hopes of the Hallmark Christmas. Y’all know what I mean, perfect tree, decor, everyone loves each other, everything works out perfect in the end, Christmas miracles, blah, blah. It didn’t take long for that image to go black!! Starting with the tree being too little for the new house. But didn’t want to take it down and decorate another one. Lol Just make it work!! Then most of the decor I have is mismatch collections from the last 20 years. But just make it work until next year. See what bills can be put off for a couple of weeks so we can go shopping. Yet again, just make it work until January. Do you see a habit forming? I was even to the point I almost cancelled all the Christmas gatherings that we were to attend/host. So there I was 2 days before Christmas, Hallmark dream shattered, about to have a breakdown, there were a few tears! I was just ready to get to New Years Eve!

The Perk at the End of the Year

So by the time the last present was opened, Momma was ready to start opening some bottles of liquid Joy! The perk to the end of December is having more than one opportunity to have a few drinks and unwind. First is watching some college football playoffs/ bowl games. Second, is New Years Eve!

Saturday after Christmas was opportunity number one! And when the OU game wasn’t going so good, we drank more. Pretty sure not a single one of us watched the last quarter of the game. We opted for drinks and karaoke. Then when we tired of that it was time to go dancing! Bad move! So Chad hasn’t had quite the same chances to drink since he became a firefighter as he had the first 17 years we were together. He had a pretty rough night. Then New Years came. Gotta love going to themed parties. This was ’80’s theme. We always celebrate with Chad middle school buddy. They have been friends going on 26 years, and January 1st is also his birthday. We stayed a bit more low key at this get together. But it’s always a blast until the cops show up. Now, granted, this is my first party that the cops have showed up. But not because we were loud or anything. But they still put a bit of a damper on the situation. We were home and ready for bed by 2:30am!

So, in closing, we had a lot of ups and downs to our last 2 months of 2019. Am I glad it’s over? Well of course! But at least I have plenty of memories to take with me as I head into 2020.
